Meeting with women of the Palar Galion community women, 03 March 2022

Ahead of the commemoration of the International Women’s Day, Butterfly Cameroon, having deployed to Maroua since 23 February 2022, met on 03 February 2022, 40 women of the Palar Galion communityt in order to discuss the theme of the International Women’s Day, “Gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow”.

On the agenda, the association conducted documentary screenings on the issues of climate change and women empowerment.

Discussions with the participants ensued after the screening. The women were able to express their views on the issue of financial empowerment of vulnerable families.

“Young people coming from vulnerable families think that lacking financial means is an inherited issue. Yet an activity such as fetching water from the well for neighbours can help one make ends meet”, said a participant.

Butterfly Cameroon’s volunteers, ultimately and with the participants, discussed strategies to reinforce female leadership within the community, against a backdrop of combatting climate change in the region.

The Chief of the Palar Galion area of Maroua was also in attendance and Buttefly Cameroon thanks him for the warm welcome.
