Butterfly Cameroon participates in the assessment of durable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
On Friday February 2, 2024, Butterfly Cameroon trainees Yaouke OSEE and DAJLER SAÏLE, selected by the UNHCR, took part in the field assessment.
The activity took place in the Far North of Cameroon, more precisely in KOLOFATA. The aim of the activity was to assess sustainable solutions to ensure the safety and protection of IDPs. It also assessed access to livelihoods, restitution of housing, land and property, access to identity documents, participation in public affairs and access to effective means of redress.
Butterfly Cameroon is playing a crucial role in the assessment of durable solutions for displaced people in Kolofata. By participating in this assessment, the organization contributes to the search for concrete and sustainable solutions to meet the needs of displaced people, taking into account their safety, well-being and integration. This can include initiatives such as resettlement support, access to education, health, employment, as well as programs to build community resilience.
Butterfly Cameroon’s involvement promotes a holistic approach to tackling the challenges faced by displaced people and promoting long-term sustainable solutions.
